Screening Colonoscopy

Have you recently experienced immense pain in the abdominal region? Does it hurt sometimes when you pee? Is your stool lately containing blood? Being a woman, do you feel abrupt pain or irregularity during your period cycle? Usually, people treat these occurrences as a mere incidental things. However, medical reports suggest that these experiences may indicate cancer in the colon and rectal region of your body. Also known as colorectal cancer, it marks heavy progress soon after the origination of the first polyps. If you can relate to the problems mentioned here, you should immediately book an appointment with a gastrointestinal specialist. The GI specialist doctors often suggest a screening colonoscopy for a better diagnosis purpose.

Screening Colonoscopy is a biological surgery process used to check the cancerous cells at the beginning. Doctors often suggest that patient clean their bellies before the process.

• Firstly, the doctor cuts a small part in your abdominal region and inserts a small tube-like instrument called colonoscopies. A small camera resides on the top of the colonoscope. Thus your doctor can have a clear view of your pelvic region. For the same purpose, doctors seldom attach a small light alongside the camera as well.

• Second, after inserting the colonoscope inside your body, the doctor checks the region you’re experiencing problems. If needed, your doctor may take a sample of the polyps or cancerous cells and send it to the laboratory. In the laboratory, they will diagnose your cell. And detect whether there’s a risk for cancer or not! This process is called a biopsy.

• Before the whole procedure begins, your doctor might provide you with sedatives during the surgery. It will take almost half an hour for you to refrain from the effects. The whole process contains almost one hour.

After the surgery, you may feel dizzy, but it is completely safe for you. You can even drive home back. Initially the gastroenterologists suggest taking a light diet for that day as well. From the next day, you can return to your regular schedule.
